The skin is a living breathing organ which must be nourished and detoxified for it to flourish!

Masks come in various ways: dry,wet,gel and so on. The choice of which formulation to use really depends on skin type, skin condition, formulation preference, and what you want to achieve with your skin.

Clay masks: Contain clay which has been used for centuries in skincare. They cleanse by drawing out dirt, toxins and excess oils from the skin, they also exfoliate to reveal radiant skin.

Dry masks: These are formulated as dry powders, and are therefore very versatile. They can be combined with an appropriate mixer for the skin.

In general:
Water is commonly used, and is great for all skin types,

Milk can be used for combination skin types,

Carrot juice can be used for mature skin types,

Yogurt is great for dry or irritated skin types.

Gel masks: These are generally water based and are great for dry and irritated skin. They are very hydrating and soothing to the skin.

Honey masks: Made with honey, they attract dead skin cells and dirt from the pores and skin surface, they also hydrate, soften and condition the skin.

Dead Sea mud: It is extremely rich in minerals that nourish the skin, it also draws out dirt and toxins from the skin.

Steps to nourish and detoxify the face

1. Cleanse with an appropriate facial cleanser to get rid of daily dirt and grime – Daily

2. Exfoliate the skin with a face scrub or microdermabrasion cream to remove dead skin cells that leave the skin looking dull – Weekly

3. Apply an appropriate mask to detoxify, nourish, condition or all of the above and remove as directed  – Weekly

4. Use a toner to remove any traces of dirt, cleanser, exfoliant or mask that might be left behind and to nourish the skin – Daily

5. Apply a targeted serum if needed – Daily or Weekly

6. Moisturize with a nourishing face cream. If you live in a sunny part of the world, apply sunscreen – Daily

1. Cleanse with an appropriate body wash to get rid of daily dirt and grime – Daily

2. Exfoliate the skin with a body scrub to remove dead skin cells that leave the skin looking dull – Weekly

3. Apply an appropriate mask to detoxify, nourish, condition or all of the above and remove as directed  – Weekly

4. Moisturize with a nourishing cream or lotion – Daily

These rituals are really easy to do, you can make them quick or indulge for as long as you want.

Every once in a while, you can pamper yourself by going to the spa.
